BMS 13S LiPo/Li-Ion – 60A / 8A
A Battery Management System (BMS) is an electronic device that automates the entire battery management process. When connected to a suitable charger, it monitors and controls both charging and discharging to ensure safe battery operation. It is an essential component of any properly built electric bike battery.
Lithium batteries (Li-ion, LiPo, and other lithium-based chemistries) require proper care and monitoring. They must not be charged above 4.2 V per cell or discharged below 3.0 V per cell. To protect the battery during everyday use, a device called a Battery Management System (BMS) is used.
BMS FUNCTIONS
During Charging
- Balances and equalizes the voltage of individual cell groups to ensure none exceeds the maximum safe voltage of 4.2 V per cell.
- Automatically disconnects the charger if any cell approaches an overcharge condition.
During Discharging
- Prevents the battery from being over-discharged.
- If any cell reaches the minimum safe voltage, the BMS disconnects the battery output to protect the battery pack from damage.
Cell Balancing
- Continuously works to keep all cell groups at the same voltage level.
- Proper balancing extends the battery's service life, improves reliability, and ensures optimal performance of the entire battery pack.

The BMS features enhanced resistance to moisture and water. It is not 100% waterproof, as the balancing connectors are still exposed, but it offers improved protection against moisture, such as condensation that can build up inside an enclosure, especially a metal one.
